Scrimshaw Tusk

A good piece of late 19th century scrimshaw depicting two famous maritime disasters - the wreck of The Kent in the Bay of Biscay 1825 and the grounding of The Cato on the Great Barrier Reef in 1804.  Both scenes depicted come from popular prints at the time.  Of particular interest are the red flames billowing from the wreck of The Kent.                                                                             SOLD
